Victory+

Teaming up again with RED Productions in Fort Worth, we created this Team vs Team template to be used in the Victory+ pipeline for future matchups. The strategy involved a slick creative look with the ability to quickly change teams/logos/names on the fly.

an after effects screen that showcases how the Template works

You can see the color controls on the middle/top effects panel, and how they correlate on screen to the right. There’s also a Layout Control (upper left) that determines which side of the screen the lockup will be (left/center/right). The City Names/Mascot Names are editable, and they will change every super that uses them throughout the project. This makes updating everything simple: just change things in the Edit Comp and your project will update. It also makes adding more supers easy: just duplicate those comps and they will still reference the Edit Comp.

Above is the Edit Comp in action. This allows the user to determine if the Mascot supers need to be adjusted in-comp (too wide/too narrow) and how they’ll look when animated. It also features all the editable elements in the lockup. There are pieces/sections that won’t be changed (the Victory+ edge elements and the background vertical bar).

Here is the lockup in full render, with the background and lockup elements. You can see how the “Victory+” super at the top has a green background, and the Date/Time bar is gray (just like the Edit Comp currently exists). The Layout Control is set to Center, which makes our lockup appear in the center of the screen.

Here is the full :15 delivered, which includes supers over footage. If the user changes either team name or mascot, it will change the supers within the project. In this case, we have Edmonton & Dallas. There are also controls of these supers in the project (glow effect, etc) in case footage underneath these supers clash and make the supers unreadable.

I’ve now created work for two of my favorite local professional sports teams. If the Mavs & Cowboys are listening: I’m available! Let’s make it all 4!
